Aish Kodesh
Our Kehilla is named in memory of the Piaseczna Rebbe, Rav Kalonymus Kalman Shapira Zt”l. The Rebbe was a source of illumination even in his last moments of the Warsaw Ghetto, giving up his life “Al Kiddush Hashem” in a death camp. He was an inspiration throughout his lifetime, especially in the realm of education.
His unique sefer, Chovos Hatalmidim, was learned by thousands of young men searching for inspiration in the dark days before the Churban. This sefer created a virtual revolution in the halls of learning and shuls throughout Poland. The Rebbe’s wartime writings were miraculously discovered years later and published under the title Aish Kodesh, words forged in the fires of that tragic time.
The Holy Rebbe of Piaseczne Zt”l, the Aish Kodesh was renowned for his compassion and brilliance, especially in the realm of education. He was the last Rebbe in the Warsaw Ghetto and even in those darkest of times, his words were sparks of fire that bought hope.
There is no מציבה, nor was he survived by children, yet his words, his spirit and guidance live on here in our Kehilla. Our Shtiebel is the only community in Europe that carries his holy name, and it is our goal to continue bringing his warmth and Ahavas Yisroel to all who enter our doors.
Adass Aish Kodesh is more than a place of worship. Under the leadership of our dynamic Rov, HaRav Y. Reuven Rubin Shlita, the community has become a centre for a myriad of educational and chesed activities.
